Horse shows are truly a family affair for the Brills. With oldest son, T.J. Brill, beginning his show career at a very young age, and earning a unanimous judges decision at the World Championships, the Brill family was destined to get hooked! After big brother's success, middle daughter Bethany decided to kick it up a gear and has won countless championships in the hunter division, as well as taking the reins in one successful catch ride after another. She has several National and World titles to her name, and will begin 2007 with a new hunter mount, Rum Brook Cuidado. Youngest daughter, Elyse, is going to have her year to shine in 2007, with the pairing of her new western mount, He's Simply Marvelous! Elyse has ridden hunter for several years, and thought the challenge of a new division would be really fun. Thad and Kristi are always incredibly supportive of their kids, only requiring that they do their best at all times!

T.J. is working on his business major at Tulane University, fresh from a stint in Hong Kong at their esteemed business school. Bethany has applied to several colleges, including Texas A&M, and Oregon State. She plans on studying architecture, and is having a ball as a high school senior this year. Her cheerleading competitions keep her running like mad, but she makes time to ride both her new hunter, as well as a new western horse for her, Love's Masterpiece. Elyse is still a fish, swimming several practices a day on her high school swim team. She juggles this with her riding, and is excelling at both! One of her favorite sidelines is competing in Mountain Trail Championships, where you and your horse are required to complete absolutelyl grueling inside, natural trail courses. She won herself a championship at the Mountain Trail Championship in November, and may be headed back for the Spring Mountain Trail challenge, which takes place in March. Go get 'em!

The Norris Family
|
The Norris Family - With three kids who are all really involved in school and sports, the horses were an easy fit for the Norris'. Stephanie, the eldest, had a great career as a junior rider, and after she aged out of the junior division, she changed seats from english pleasure to hunter pleasure, with even greater success than before! Her mount, Aprilark Finale, is a great big chestnut with a huge floaty stride, and incredible presence. She continues to win championships in the amateur division, and somehow works her riding in with her summer jobs, and attending Oregon State University.
Chelsea, next in line, has been an outstanding rider since she first climbed on a horse. She is a multi-titled World Championship rider, and 2007 will be her first year as an amateur. She is excited to pair up with Kane Creek Novel Idea, after taking a year off from the show ring. She also keeps busy with a full time job, and we are happy she can organize them both, and return to the show ring...we've really missed her! Evan, the lonely man in the group of kids, rode when he was younger, but his horse interest gave way to other sports, and he is now a crack baseball player on his high school varsity team!
Busy with all life throws at them, Gary and Lynn are also very supportive parents, always making themselves available to spend time with the kids. This year Lynn will be taking some well-deserved time for herself, as she begins the adventure of learning how to drive her gorgoeus three year old mare, Kane Creek Moonstruck. Although she was adamant that she wouldn't be showing, we're wearing her down, as she gets more confident behind the lines! We're certain that we'll see her in the ring in 2007!

Bobby and Neil are the kind of people who would give you the shirt off their back! They are our resident entertainers, cooking gourmet meals at the horse shows, and providing conversation for hearty laughter at the show, and in the barn. Bobby is headed in a new direction with her gelding, HBEF Evergreen Phoenix, switching from english, to hunter pleasure. It's quite a change for both of them, but they are making progress at an alarming rate, and we can't wait for that first show! Bobby is the hardest working, most committed rider I've ever seen, and her hard work pays off on a daily basis. Her goals for 2007 are to master the hunter changeover, and show "Nick" in Versatility, Trail, Road Hack, and some hunter pleasure classes. It should be a fun challenge, and we're all rooting for this wonderful pair of go-getters!

Keith, Susanand Kelsey Kokkeler will be a little bit scarce this year, as Kelsey is off on a job in Hawaii for the year, and Susan will be taking a hiatus from showing this year. Susan and Kelsey have been the cutest mother/daughter show pair! They love each other'scompany, and have complete respect for one another. That said, they also are very competetive in a jovial way, each trying to best the other in the ribbon department. They own two gorgeous, well-trained mares, who also double as trail compantions. Keith is the gentleman farmer, and joins Susan on trail rides around their place, while cutting wisecracks all the while! With a man like that around, you can understand why Susan and Kelsey are always in a great mood, with smiles on their faces!

When Dan and Jan are around, you can always be sure there is good conversation! They are a great compliment to our barn, and are so supportive of everyone at Kane Creek. Dan and Jan are the owners of Chimera Morgans, where they have bred and shown several World Champions. Their new addition is a Kane Creek bred horse, named Kane Creek Kamikaze. Jan will be showing in the ever-competetive Amateur Masters, Amateur, and Ladies divisions, and with her elegant riding style, she had already begun to master what is a very foreign seat to her. Jan has a world title which she earned herself, in the English Pleasure Amateur division. She only began riding western last August, and has already won classes, and been in the top 5 at the Grand National and World Championship show! She won't sing herself praises, or even give herself a little bit of credit for being talented, but when you see her out there, you'll realize what a tough team she and Kazi will be in 2007!
