About Us
Kane Creek established itself in 1992, in the bustling town of McMinnville, OR, where we began a program that focused on the amateur and youth rider.  Numbers grew quickly, and with the original location outgrown, a new farm was purchased in the sleepy little wine town of Yamhill, OR.  Kane Creek continued at this location, producing one World class rider after another, while also proving our worth in the breeding business.  Our original goals included breeding extraordinary individuals with height and presence, and developing World caliber riders.  Most importantly, we wanted to cultivate an atmosphere of friendship and enjoyment, so that it was a worthwhile venture for all involved.  We have definitely succeeded in these goals.  Today our farm carries a widespread reputation as a barn with incredibly competitive horses, and gracious riders with wicked senses of humor!

Beginning in 1992, our first junior rider brought home the title of Reserve World Champion in the highly competitive Hunter Seat Gold Medal Final at the Morgan Grand National and World Championship Show.  Julie Tretter was this young rider, competing at the tender age of 13, and she is still showing her Morgans today.  Elyse Brill brought home two Reserve Grand National titles from the 2007 World show, in both western equitation and western pleasure, on her new mount, He's Simply Marvelous.  She was also third in the world, out of 44 competitors, in the extremely tough Western Seat Gold Medal Final.  Her flawless execution of the very intricate, technical pattern presented to these young riders, is testament to the precise training and instruction that you'll receive at Kane Creek.  Elyse's older sister, Bethany Brill, has several World and National titles to her name, in the Hunter Pleasure, Hunter Seat Equitation, and Western Pleasure division.  She followed in the footsteps of her big brother, TJ Brill, who started the Brill family winning tradition by winning his Grand National Hunter Pleasure 14-17 qualilfier by a unanimous decision of all three judges.  Chelsea Norris did a double whammy in 2002, when she was the Reserve World Champion in both the Hunter Seat Equitation, and the Western Seat Equitation, showing her amazing versatility.  She also did this at the young age of 13, beating out the older, more seasoned competitors.  Karlie Bagan kept Kane Creek riders in the running in 2006, earning herself the Reserve Grand National title in the Western Pleasure 14-15 year old class.

On the four-legged side, Kane Creek has produced and trained many World and National titled horses.  We our most proud of our home-grown "kids", as our small breeding program has been very successful in placing our horses in the winner's circle.  Beginning with a Reserve Grand National title in Ladies Hunter Pleasure, as a three-year old, Kane Creek Novel Idea was also the mount that carried Chelsea Norris to her double titles.  In 2002, Kane Creek Kaos jogged his way down the rail as the Reserve World Champion Futurity Western Pleasure Three Year Old.  In 2005, STM Victory's Sharpshooter carried Carmen Hobson to the win in the Hunter Pleasure Stallions and Geldings.  2006 brought two more Kane Creek horses into the spotlight, when half-brothers Kane Creek Kamikaze and Kane Creek Truth or Dare earned two more titles in the Western Pleasure and Reining divisions.  Kane Creek Kamikaze returned in 2007 to claim the Reserve World Champion 4 Year Old title, with Carmen Hobson in the saddle.  Even more to our delight, Kamikaze pulled of a huge win in the Western Pleasure Amateur Masters division, becoming the reigning World Champion with his owner Jan Unrein aboard.  This victory was sweeter than expected, as his championship was won by the unanimous decision of all three judges.  Not a bad showing considering this stellar campaigner is carrying an amateur rider at such a young age!  Caralee Conklin is our southern client who hails from Florida, and she made us all proud when she made her victory pass as the 2007 Grand National Champion Ladies Amateur, on Sheradin's Noteworthy.
2008 will bring a new age of changes to Kane Creek, as we are completing a move to the Big Sky Country of Montana.  We will still be offering instruction, clinics, consultation, and a small amount of breeding and training.  We willl continue our tradition of molding World class horses and riders, just on a smaller scale.  We look forward to meeting new friends in Montana, and enjoying all the area has to offer.
Whatever your dreams or goals, we feel confident that we can make them a reality at
Kane Creek Morgans!
